Recently a bride wrote in to our Ask the Expert column for advice on how to make sure her small budget didn’t limit the amount of dancing people did at her wedding. I pointed out that DJs tend to be less expensive than bands and gave some tips on how to work with your budget.  But the real key to get people dancing though is to make sure you have music that gets them on the floor. One of the most frequent questions we get to our Ask the Experts column is for how to handle a brother-sister dance in lieu of a father-daughter dance. I always advise to think bigger than just “what song” and think about which traditions do and don’t make sense to you. A brother-sister dance is fine, but there’s no rule that says you have to have a father-daughter dance or that you have to replace it with a different dance.
