Over the past few years it’s become a truism that what you see on the red carpet will eventually show up on the bridal aisle. This year, it almost seems like it worked the other way around. Several wedding fashion trends already in play were on view on last night’s Oscars.Cate Blanchett and Melissa Leo’s (below) modest but still sexy and beautiful dresses are two obvious examples of bridal fashion making its way to the red carpet.

Amy Adams (below) cobalt blue dress follows not only that trend, but adds in the hot bridesmaid color of the year.

One trend that was definitely all over the red carpet but hasn’t shown up on the bridal aisle just yet is the amazing geometrical shapes seen on stunning stars like Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Hudson, and of course, host Anne Hathaway’s red carpet dress (all below).
